Boothbay Region Land Trust provides habitat for many resident and migrating bird species. On each of the preserves one can find wonderful bird watching sites. During most of the year BRLT offers guided bird hikes to learn about birding and habitat. The acres of protected freshwater wetland, fields, forested upland, and shoreline are havens for a wide variety of wildlife as well. The birds’ songs in the field helped to name Singing Meadows. There have been more than 138 different species of birds identified at Lobster Cove Meadow Preserve. Damariscove and Lower Mark Islands provide seabird rookeries. Schoolhouse Pond, Linekin and Zak Preserves each provide avian feeding and breeding grounds. You can see wading birds at Porter and Ovens Mouth Preserves. Recently a rare warbler was spotted on Gregory Hiking Trail. Stay tuned for more information on birding and BRLT’s preserves.
