Hiking, Birding, Boating & Kayaking
BRLT’s preserves are the perfect place to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.  Over 30 miles of hiking trails are maintained and open year-round free of charge.  Over 38,000 hikers visit BRLT’s preserves annually.  Throughout the year, hikes, boat and kayak trips led by BRLT volunteers highlight local history, ecology, birding, and more.  For more information on BRLT-led activities, see our Calendar of Events.
Boothbay Region Land Trust Activities

Hiking

Over 30 miles of hiking trails are open year-round free of charge on BRLT’s preserves.  Enjoy meadows, forests, wetlands, scenic vistas and the natural beauty of the Boothbay region.

Birding

Boothbay Region Land Trust provides habitat for many resident and migrating bird species. On each of the preserves one can find wonderful bird watching sites.

Boating & Kayaking

BRLT takes great pride in making its properties available for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.   BRLT’s Happy Landings guide describes the six BRLT preserves accessible by boat and the facilities provided.

Geocaching

The BRLT maintains cache sites on ten of its preserves.  All of the information on the BRLT caches is available at www.geocaching.com.

Winter Use
When the crowds leave the peninsula in the fall and the hush of winter is upon us, the BRLT preserves are often at their most beautiful.  The preserves offer excellent spots for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking during the offseason.  See BRLT’s Winter Use Guide for the best spots.
